
This course is aimed primarily at students who are interested in taking up pen making and want to explore the complexities and possibilities of this craft. During the day will will cover the following.
- Appreciation of the necessary health and safety requirements.
- An understanding of how pens are constructed.
- Material possibilities (wood, acrylic, etc.)
- The different options, ie fountain, propelling pencil, ball point.
- The available pen kit styles.
- The necessary tools and equipment involved.
- Preparing the material for the lathe.
- Mounting the material on the lathe, shaping and polishing.
- Selection and applying a finish.
- Assembling the completed components.
Details and pricing A full day will usually run from 10:00 – 16:00, however the start and end times can be flexible to meet your needs. This course can be run with up to two students. For a one-to-one day, the price is £140. If you would like to come as a pair with a friend or family member, this is available at a reduced price of £125 per person. Refreshments will be available throughout the day. Bring a pack lunch.
Please note: dress in suitable clothing and footwear for a day in the workshop.
